I welcome you to Somali International University. I am sure your time spent with us will be rewarding and pleasant.
Somali International University has total commitment to the achievement of excellence in education, guidance, and training. Our prime aim is to provide an environment which is stimulating, enterprising and conducive to research culture and learning experience.
We are living in a contemporary world of progress and innovation, where the keys to success lie with the ability to create new knowledge and discover new ideas. Everything we know about today's economy, technology, engineering, global competitiveness, health and social well-being tells us that investment in our human capital, particularly in the higher education of our citizens, is one of the most important investments we can make.
A university education provides students with more than just a body of knowledge or an area of expertise. It provides the tools for a life of continuous learning, the skills of creativity, problem-solving and leadership. Never has a university education been more important or valuable than it is today.
Our commitment to our students is unrelenting. Over the last 7 years, we have invested heavily in enhancing the student experience, including a step that no other university in the country has ever taken.
We have partnered with the country's top hospitals to provide a learning environment for our students. We currently own a vast designed Engineering Lab, Computer Labs, Clinical Laboratories and Human Anatomy Dissection.
We have also opened the postgraduate center in partnership with Kenyatta University and English Language and Communication Skills Center in partnership with Makerere University.
The Somali International University represents a new generation of universities. It is drawn from the past and is designed for the future, but it lives and breathes in the present. Through Somali International University, students became vitally connected to the world they inhabit - a world of ideas, challenges and possibilities.
The university will create a new model for higher education where course choice is borderless. Students will be able to study courses run in universities in other countries without travelling.

History of the University
Somali International University (SIU) has emerged as a significant educational institution in Somalia since its founding in 2012. The university operates as a private, non-profit entity with a strong commitment to providing quality higher education to the Somali population, especially at a time when the country is recovering from the collapse of the central government.
SIU's four campuses in Mogadishu serve as hubs for innovative undergraduate programs, and the planned fifth campus on the outskirts of the city will further enhance its reach, making education more accessible to students from diverse parts of Mogadishu. This expansion is particularly important in a country where opportunities for formal academic institutions have been limited for many years. By strategically increasing its presence, SIU plays a key role in addressing the educational gaps that arose during Somalia's period of instability.
The university has received accreditation from Somalia's Ministry of Higher Education, confirming its adherence to national educational standards. This accreditation ensures that SIU’s degrees and programs are recognized both within Somalia and internationally, opening up professional pathways for its graduates across different sectors.
SIU’s educational philosophy emphasizes the combination of academic theory with practical, hands-on skills, which is particularly relevant to Somalia's ongoing rebuilding efforts. This hybrid model is designed to prepare students not just for theoretical knowledge but also for active participation in the country’s recovery, contributing to sectors such as governance, business, healthcare, and technology
Furthermore, SIU has broadened its scope by collaborating with regional universities in Kenya and Uganda to offer graduate education programs. These partnerships not only provide advanced degrees but also enhance academic opportunities for students while fostering regional cooperation. By working with universities outside of Somalia, SIU ensures that its students are equipped with global perspectives and access to a wider range of professional networks, contributing to Somalia’s broader integration into the regional and international community.
